how does the moon affect fishing in terms of new and full moon?
i fish in freshwater, lakes, ponds, rivers, up in the Sierra Nevada mountains. so i don’t need to know about the ocean tides or anything.
again, in terms of the new and full moon.

it shouldnt really affect the fishing….the moon doesnt have too much affect on lakes and such, pretty much only the oceans. the temperature, season, month, ect they affect fishing.

cheez is right on target. The moon does not effect inland fishing at all. You will notice a considerable drop in fish feeding right after a cold front has moved into your fishing area. Weather plays a significant role in fish feeding habits. A cold front tends to knock most schooling fish to a lower debth in summer. Catfish don’t school as much but are considerably less active after a low pressure area moves in or a cold front moves across an area. The best time to catch fish is about 2 to 3 days after the front moves through. Just watch your local weather man and he will tell you as this happens and you can set your fishing time a few days past the front. You got a great sport to enjoy in fishing. Please follow the local laws in your area so that more people can enjoy our favorite past-time as well, blessings, Cyber

Here is a link to Doug Hannon’s website. He’s a very well known fisheries biologist and bass fisherman.I’ve used his moon tables for over 15 years now in both salt and fresh water and firmly believe the moon has an effect on all species of fish, salt and fresh alike.
