Why do saltwater fish die when put in freshwater? And how long will it take for them to die?
And vice versa (fresh to salt). So i expect 4 answers here =D

Should I go saltwater?
I just moved from New York to Florda. I left my 4 fish tanks with my uncle. They were freshwater and I had agressive fish in 2 tanks (1 in each tank) and the other one had some chiclids (not sure spellings right). I think I am going to start a saltwater tank now. Should I start it?
I have had those tanks for 2 years each.
edit:
I had a brackish for 1 year, they didn’t surve the black out in that one summer.
I am a beginner at saltwater aquariums. My friend gave me her Nano aquarium when she moved up North.?
She has it originally as a reef aqaurium but the reef died amost half a year ago. We have a blenny, a clown and some damsels in there now. We recently just bought a zonathid but it still hasn’t opened up..it’s been about 5 days. Is it still alive? Also when we take the damsels out what are some other fish that would go good in this setup? One more thing….there is algae on the bottomof the tank around the sand….how do I clean this off?
Clownfish death?
I’ve spent the past few months setting up a new 20 gallon saltwater tank. I thought I’d done everything right. I measured the specific gravity every few days, kept the temperature right, took regular Ph, nitrate, nitride and ammonia tests. I added live sand first, ages ago now, and let it run for a few weeks with just that. Then I started adding liverock, about 10lbs of it. I let it run with that for about three weeks, doing regular tests to make sure everything was in order. Feather dusters sprouted out pretty soon, along with other random tiny living things. I thought it was safe to add a fish, a hardy one, to help. I picked out a healthy-looking tank-bred Ocellaris clownfish, yesterday. Today I came home and couldn’t see him. After searching I found him, dead, in a gap in the rocks. There are no traces of harm on him, he looked healthy. I had noticed some Aiptasia, two of them to the best of my knowledge, and I removed them at once. Why did he die?
Am I overstocked?
I have a 125gal saltwater aquarium with a 30gal sump (filled with about 18gal), fuge, Aqua Medic skimmer, carbon, powerheads. I have a goldentail moray, small porcupine puffer, and a Niger trigger. I plan on adding a Volitan lionfish. Now my question is can I add one last fish after the lion, like a miniatus grouper?
